Abbott India, is a large pharmaceutical company selling both local brands and global products. Abbott India has over 1,000 employees with a network of 18 distribution points, which cater to 11,000 stockists and 70,000 retailers.
The Challenge
Abbott's Hospital Care Division sells anesthetic drugs to hospitals all over the country. These drugs need a device, called Vaporizer, to convert the drugs into vapor form for inhalation. Abbott gives these Vaporizers to hospitals free of cost, and then sells the bottles to them. They have over 3,000 of these vaporizers installed, but were manually maintaining the information about these expensive assets.
The Solution
Systsoft Systems & Software developed the Vaporizer Tracking Application for Abbott, to track the flow of these assets from the point of purchase till the time they are scrapped. The Vaporizers are centrally received in a warehouse, moved to other warehouses across the country, allocated to Managers, who in turn allocate them to their sales staff.
They are then installed in hospitals, which can return them for repair or reallocation. The drug sales generated by each sales person, against each vaporizer is also recorded. There are several reports to calculate profitability of the hospitals, performance of sales staff and so on.
The Benefits
The Vaporizer Tracking Application is hosted over the Internet and is being used by the entire sales organization of this division across the country. It has allowed the management to get a single view of the sales, profitability and performance of their customers and staff and removed all the problems faced due to incomplete data availability.
