Saint-Gobain is a global leader in the manufacture and development of engineered materials such as glass, insulation, reinforcements, containers, building materials, ceramics and plastics. Saint-Gobain Crystals is comprised of four business units - Scintillation Products, Quartz Materials, Photonic Materials, and Process Materials.
The Challenge
Saint Gobain Crystals has various manufacturing facilities in the USA, and had commenced operations in a plant located in Bangalore, India. There was no major IT system in the Indian plant, with most processes being performed manually. This led to increased burden on the staff and difficulties in reporting. Since Saint Gobain was using PRMS in all their other plants, PRMS needed to be rolled out in Bangalore quickly and with minimum customization.
The Solution
Systsoft Systems & Software (Systsoft) assisted Saint Gobain in the implementation of PRMS. This involved close coordination between the IT team in Saint Gobain USA, the users in Bangalore and Systsoft consultants both onsite as well as offsite. After an initial study of the implementation at their Newbury, Ohio plant, Systsoft conducted a study of the Bangalore plant to identify the system gaps. Customization of PRMS was done wherever neccesary and then PRMS was rolled out for all the users. The project was completed on time and within the parameters of minimal customization that Saint Gobain required.
The Benefits
The Saint Gobain plant in India follows the same processes as their other plants and reporting and consolidation of data is much simpler and quicker.
